Interacting with email elements
This article explains how to interact with any email element (rows, buttons, images, etc.) in the builder. Understanding these states and actions makes editing faster and more intuitive.
Core functionality & interaction states
State 1: Hovering over elements

When you hover your mouse over any element, its name and a drag handle icon appear.
- Rows: Hover just outside an inner element but inside the row’s boundaries (between its border and the row’s border) to reveal the row name and a drag handle icon.
- Elements: Hover directly over the element to reveal its name and a drag handle icon.
State 2: Clicking on elements

When you click on an element, additional actions become available:
Row actions
- Drag & drop: Move the row within the template.
- Save as template: Save the row for reuse.
- Duplicate: Create a copy of the row below the original.
- Delete: Remove the row from your template.
Element actions
- Drag & drop: Move the element within your email.
- Duplicate: Create a copy of the element immediately below the original.
- Delete: Remove the element from your template.
State 3: Highlighting via the right-side menu
When you select a specific column using the right-side menu, that column is highlighted on the canvas so you can see exactly where your changes will apply.
Actions for rows and elements
Drag & drop

- Hover over the drag handle (rows of dots).
- When the cursor turns into a hand icon, click and hold to grab the element.
- As you drag:
- The original position of the element is dimmed, indicating it’s being moved.
- The target position is indicated visually in the template.
- Release to drop the element in its new spot.
Duplicate
Click the duplicate icon to instantly create a copy. The copy appears below the original.
Delete
Click the trash bin icon to immediately remove the element from your template.
