Personalizing Your Subject Lines and Preheaders

Want to increase your open rates? Personalization is key. With Sendigram, you can dynamically insert contact information—like a recipient's name or city—directly into your email’s Subject Line and Preheader.

How to Add Personalization Variables

You can add variables while you are setting up your campaign details:

  1. Locate the Subject or Preheader field.
  2. Click the Personalization Icon within the field.
  3. A menu will appear with a list of available variables:
    • First Name
    • Last Name
    • Age
    • Date of Birth
    • Country
    • City
  4. Select the field you want to use.
  5. The variable will appear in your text as a bracketed tag (e.g., {{First_name}}).

Pro Tip: If you’ve already typed a subject line, the variable will be added to the very end of your text. You can then cut and paste it to any position within the sentence.

Using Campaign Settings with Custom HTML

If you are uploading your own Custom HTML template, you have a choice: use the subject line coded into your file, or use the one you created in the Sendigram campaign settings.

To use your Sendigram campaign settings (Subject and Preheader) within your HTML, you must place specific tags inside your HTML code:

  • For the Subject: Use the {{Subject}} tag.
  • For the Preheader: Use the {{Preheader}} tag.

When our system detects these tags in your code, it will automatically pull the text you wrote in the "Campaign Settings" step and "inject" it into your email at the moment of sending.
