What to do if a sender address is in use by active campaigns
In Sendigram, every campaign is linked to a specific sender address. If you try to change or delete a sender address that's currently being used in active or scheduled campaigns, the system will prevent the change until you take action. This is to protect deliverability and campaign consistency.
1. Why Restrictions Exist
- Consistency: Recipients expect campaigns from the same sender address. Sudden changes may reduce trust.
- Deliverability: Changing an address mid-campaign may cause authentication or inbox placement issues.
- System integrity: Prevents campaigns from being sent with an invalid or deleted sender address.
2. Identifying the Issue
When you attempt to edit or delete a sender address:
- You may see a warning message: "This sender address is in use by active campaigns."
- The address will be locked from changes until those campaigns finish or are updated.
3. What You Can Do
Option A: Wait for Campaigns to Finish
- If campaigns are already in progress, wait until they complete.
- Once finished, you can safely edit or delete the sender address.
Option B: Update Campaign Settings
- Go to Campaigns → Active/Scheduled.
- Open the campaign using the sender address.
- Edit the campaign and assign a different verified sender address.
- Save changes.
After this, the old sender address is free for editing or deletion.
4. Best Practices
- Plan ahead: Assign sender addresses carefully before launching campaigns.
- Use consistent addresses: Avoid frequent changes to maintain trust.
- Create multiple verified addresses: This gives you flexibility for marketing vs. transactional campaigns without overlap.
- Check scheduled campaigns: Before editing or removing addresses, review scheduled sends to avoid interruptions.
5. Troubleshooting
- If you can't identify which campaign is using the sender address, check the Campaigns list and filter by active or scheduled.
- If you still can't proceed, contact Sendigram Support for assistance.
