Automations Overview
Automations in Sendigram EMS are smart workflows that send emails or perform actions automatically based on predefined triggers, conditions, and rules.
They help you stay in touch with your audience at the right moment—without manual effort.
With automations, you can welcome new subscribers, re-engage inactive contacts, send educational content, or follow up on abandoned carts—all on autopilot.
Why Use Automations?
Automations save time, increase engagement, and improve campaign consistency by ensuring every contact receives relevant communication based on their behavior and profile.
Key benefits include:
- Personalized communication — deliver the right message at the right time.
- Improved deliverability — emails are sent gradually and naturally.
- Higher conversions — triggered messages are more relevant to your contacts.
- Full control — you can pause, edit, or duplicate automations anytime.
Where to Find Automations
You can access Automations from the main menu in your Sendigram EMS account.
There are two main sections:
- New Automation – create a new workflow using templates or start from scratch.
- My Automations – view, edit, duplicate, or manage all your existing workflows.
How Automations Work
An automation is a chain of steps that perform actions when specific conditions are met.
Each automation includes three main types of elements:
- Triggers — define when the automation should start (e.g., when a user signs up or opens an email).
- Actions — specify what happens next (e.g., send an email, update a contact, start another automation).
- Rules — set conditions or timing between actions (e.g., wait two days before the next email).
These elements are connected in a visual workflow builder, where you can drag and drop triggers, actions, and rules to design your flow.
Example Use Cases
Here are a few examples of what you can build with Automations:
- Welcome Series — introduce new subscribers to your product.
- Educational Sequence — teach users about your service or best practices.
- Reactivation Flow — win back inactive contacts.
- Event Warm-Up — promote webinars or podcasts.
- Abandoned Cart Reminder — recover missed sales opportunities.
You can also use automation templates to get started quickly or build your own from scratch.
Automation Statuses
Each automation can have one of several statuses in the My Automations list:
- Drafted – created but not launched yet.
- Scheduled – launch date set, awaiting start.
- Active – currently running and sending emails.
- Paused – temporarily stopped.
- Stopped – stopped due to an issue (for example, email balance or domain setup).
You can resume, duplicate, or delete automations at any time.
