Setting Up Automation Details (Name, Description, Tags)

Before you start building your workflow in the Automation Builder, you'll first set up the basic details for your automation. These details help you identify, organize, and manage your automations easily — especially when you have multiple workflows running.

This step happens immediately after you click New Automation and choose a creation method (manual or from a template).

The Automation Details Window

After selecting your creation method, the Automation Details window appears.

This is where you enter your automation's Name, Description, and Tags.

Each field plays a specific role:

1. Automation Name (Required)

This is the title of your automation. It will appear in your Automations List and anywhere the workflow is referenced.

Guidelines:

  • The name must be unique within your account.
  • It can include letters, numbers, and symbols.
  • Maximum length: 200 characters.
  • You must fill this field to enable the Save button.

Once you've entered the name, the Save button becomes active, allowing you to proceed to the next step — the Automation Builder.

2. Description (Optional)

Use this field to add notes or internal context about the automation.

It's visible only to you and your team — not to contacts.

Best used for:

  • Explaining the automation's purpose.
  • Tracking experiment variations or testing goals.
  • Adding reminders about triggers or email templates used.

Adding a short description helps you (and other users) quickly understand what the automation does without opening it.

3. Tags (Optional)

Tags are organizational labels that help you group and filter automations by campaign type, audience, or purpose. They appear in your Automations List and can be used to quickly locate related workflows.

How to manage tags:

  • Click + Add new tag to create a new tag.
  • Type the tag name or select from existing ones.
  • To remove a tag, click the X next to it.

There's no limit to the number of tags per automation.

Some examples of useful tags:

  • onboarding
  • sales
  • newsletter
  • test_campaign

Buttons and Actions
