How to create a contact
Contacts (also known as your subscribers or customers) are the heart of your email marketing efforts in Sendigram. Building your contact database allows you to send targeted campaigns, create dynamic segments, and trigger automated workflows.
In Sendigram, you can add contacts individually or import them in bulk using a file.
What Contact Data Can You Store?
To help you personalize your emails, Sendigram allows you to collect and store various contact parameters.
- Essential Information: Email address (required), First Name, Last Name.
- Personal & Demographics: Gender, Geo (Country and City via dropdown), Age, Date of Birth.
- Custom Fields: You can create custom fields (parameters) to store unique characteristics specific to your business.
Method 1: Creating a Contact Manually
If you need to add a single subscriber quickly, you can create a contact manually right from your dashboard.
- Navigate to your Contacts list from the main Sendigram menu.
- Click on the Add contacts button.
- An "Add Contacts" window will open immediately.
- Fill in the required fields. The Email address is mandatory for all new contacts. We highly recommend adding their First Name and Last Name as well.
- Fill out any additional demographic data or custom fields you have set up.
- Click Save to add the user to your database.
Method 2: Importing Contacts from a File
If you are migrating from another platform or have an existing list of subscribers, uploading a file is the fastest way to add them to a Group (a static list of specific email addresses).
- Go to your Contacts section and select Add contacts.
- Choose the option to upload a file containing your email addresses.
- Select the file from your computer and upload it.
- Validation: Sendigram will scan your file automatically. If there are any issues with the file requirements (e.g., incorrect formatting or missing essential data), you will receive a notification window detailing the problem so you can fix it.
- Once your file is successfully uploaded and reviewed, the contacts will be imported, and the original file will be safely deleted from our servers to protect your data privacy.
Editing an Existing Contact
Need to update a subscriber's information? You can easily edit their profile at any time.
- Find the contact in your Contacts list and open their profile.
- Click the Pencil icon (Edit). This will open a modal window allowing you to edit all the data fields for that contact.
- Click on the specific field you wish to update and enter the new value.
- If the contact has more than the basic data fields, you can click the Show more / Hide button to expand and view all available parameters.
-
Save your changes.
Note: If you enter invalid data into a field, the system will apply validation rules and prompt you to correct it.
